Auxiliary Services
Auxiliary Services is comprised and responsible for the overall management, planning, directing, and staffing of the following areas to include: Spartan Ticket Center, Printing Services, Copy Management, Spartan Card Operations, Dining Services, University Bookstore, Conference Services, and Laundry and Vending Services.
Bursar/Student Accounts
Area responsibilities include managing Student Accounts, Billing, and Collections for tuition, course fees, room and board, and other educational related expenses.
Office of the Controller
Responsibilities include oversight of the following areas: Managing Accounting, Financial Reporting, Payroll, Treasury Operations, and Compliance with Internal Controls and liaison with Virginia Department of Accounts and Auditor of Public Accounts.
Facilities Management
Administrative Services: The mission of the Facilities Management Administrative Office is to oversee several functions including all university capital and non-capital projects, budget development, procurement of goods and services.
- Capital Planning and Improvements: is responsible for the development of the real property of the university. The department directly manages a wide array of renovation and improvements for existing buildings.
- Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management: To be instrumental in preserving the University's assets by promoting safety for all persons, conserving the environment, and managing relevant liability issues.
- Operations and Maintenance: The Facilities Management Department mission is to create an environment that encourages learning by providing clean, comfortable, safe and well-maintained facilities and grounds for students, faculty and staff.
Payroll
The Payroll Office is responsible for processing payroll transactions for full time employees, hourly employees (including students), and adjunct faculty. Leave transactions for classified employees are entered and monitored by the Payroll Office. The office is also responsible for entering employee benefits and monitoring hours worked for part time employees. There are individuals in the Payroll Office who can assist you and answer questions.
Office of Planning & Budget
Responsibilities include: Develops, Executes and Monitors Annual and Biennial Budget for the University and serves as liaison with the State Department of Planning and Budget in planning and proper distribution of appropriations of State and local funding.
Procurement Services
Responsibilities include: Oversight of Contract and Vendor Participation and Compliance, Purchasing Card Programs to include travel and small purchasing charge cards, Surplus Property Management, Acquisition of Goods and Services and liaison for Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise. This area also manages the Central Warehouse.
University Police
The Norfolk State University Police Department continues to be responsible for the safety and security of all members of the University community. As the department continues to serve and protect, please note that Norfolk State University is a public institution located within the City of Norfolk, Virginia.
