Gregory O. Grimes ’86 is a seasoned professional in the field of information technology with a top-secret security clearance and specialized expertise in systems engineering. He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the field of IT infrastructure. His forward-thinking approach to problem-solving and his dedication to maintaining system performance make him an exemplary leader in challenging network environments. His expertise, particularly in the realm of Zero Trust and classified networks, positions him as a valuable asset to any organization prioritizing robust cybersecurity and infrastructure resilience.
Mr. Grimes’ professional journey is marked by a series of high-impact roles that have leveraged his extensive expertise in systems and network engineering. Currently, he leads a Department of the Navy Special Access Program in Cyber Engineering on a project at CACI International, showcasing his proficiency in vendor engagement, cloud services through AWS, and administration of enterprise storage systems. His role is pivotal in integrating storage solutions and ensuring seamless connectivity across SAN Fabric and VMware architecture.
In previous security roles, he has managed SAN hardware and software, contributed to the design and implementation of storage solutions that bolstered data security and performance and translated complex technical concepts to a diverse set of stakeholders. His strategic approach to capacity management and disaster recovery planning underscores his commitment to operational excellence.
Mr. Grimes has devoted his time and talent to the Norfolk State University Alumni Association for twenty-five years. Serving in various chapter and national capacities throughout the organization, he ultimately became a two-term national president. Under his leadership, the NSUAA laid the foundation for its current infrastructure. He streamlined the NSUAA’s business practices, established an online membership portal, significantly increased membership and adopted an enhanced management model to increase revenue.
Committed to serving the NSU community, Mr. Grimes led the establishment of two endowments—the Parish Grimes Ivy Leaf Memorial Fund and the Pure Gold Alumni Endowed Scholarship. He was also instrumental in the founding of the first Divine-Nine affiliate chapter created within the NSUAA—the Pure Gold Alumni Chapter.
Mr. Grimes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electronics technology from Norfolk State University in 1986. He is also a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Norfolk State University Alumni Association, Inc.
