Safe Space Training/Program

A Safe Space is a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students. The NSU Safe Space program is designed to teach participants about allyship and ways that faculty, staff, students, and organizations on campus can actively contribute to creating or maintaining a safe and inclusive living and learning environment campus-wide. Participants learn about LGBTQ+ identities, gender, and sexuality, and examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege. Participants also receive Safe Space stickers to openly display as a symbol they are allies who can provide support and resources to LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

Register for Safe Space training through the Office of the AVP for Campus Life and Diversity. For more information, call (757) 785-3866 or email campuslife-diversity@nsu.edu.
