The Office of Equity and Inclusion has information for individuals seeking disability resources. The office facilitates accommodations and services for individuals with documented disabilities and severe medical conditions. Accommodations and services are rendered based on the individual’s documented needs and are determined through an interactive process. The office will maintain appropriate confidentiality of records and communication regarding disability. Please contact the office as far in advance as possible to receive accommodations and services.

In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Rehab Act”), the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), The ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (“ADAAA”), and state law, Norfolk State University is committed to ensuring that no qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall be excluded from, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity. Accessibility Information for Students
Students with disabilities are served through O.A.S.I.S. (Office of Accessibility Services/International Student Services) & Assistive Technology Laboratory (AT Lab) for all academically-required accommodation needs related to the classroom to housing digital and physical campus accessibility. OASIS also provides universally-designed instructional resources for faculty and strives to create an inclusive campus environment that allows students to engage, explore, and participate in the learning environment at Norfolk State University.
Employees and Job Applicants
Employees with disabilities and job applicants are supported through the campus network of the Office of Equity and Inclusion and Human Resources. The office serves as the campus-wide hub for information on the disability accommodation process for employees and applicants. The Equity and Inclusion Office is responsible for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act’s employment provisions. It offers essential information, consultation, education, and referral services to employees, applicants and supervisors, and managers to help minimize barriers in the workplace.
Visitors and Guests
Visitors with disabilities, including guests such as spouses of employees residing in University Housing, work with University departments to seek accommodations to participate in programs, activities, and services at Norfolk State University. Guests or visitors are encouraged to contact the event sponsor or department early if they are seeking a disability-related accommodation. Library Accessibility
The Norfolk State University’s AT Lab exists to support the enhancement of student outcomes through the delivery of information, training, and technology support utilizing assistive technologies. Services: Educational Aids Training Lab Assistance Educational Videos Assistive Technology Software Adaptive Hardware. The library is committed to providing access to all library facilities and collections for people with disabilities. Whenever possible, the libraries will select and acquire resources and technologies accessible to all. For historical library collections that are not accessible, the libraries are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and timely access to appropriately reformatted media.
