Dr. Bahoura received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Laser and matter in 1993 and 1998, respectively from the University of Paris XI. In 1998, Dr. Bahoura was awarded the Research Associate Fellowship, from the National Research Council, Washington, D.C. to work as Resident Research Associate at NASA-Langley Research Center. At NASA, Dr. Bahoura developed an all-solid-state Terahertz frequency source via frequency difference generation in a nonlinear crystal. In 2000, Dr. Bahoura joined NSU as research associate professor and worked on developing advanced laser powder materials. In 2010, Dr. Bahoura joined the engineering Department as Associate Professor and he is working on the design and development of multifunctional thin films using pulsed laser deposition, magnetron sputtering and atomic layer deposition techniques.
Dr Bahoura competency includes nonlinear materials characterization, polymer technology, visible and infrared spectroscopy, Terahertz techniques, and laser systems and optical engineering. Currently, Dr. Bahoura is PI, Co-PI and senior investigator on projects totaling funding of more than $18M from the National science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Defense (DoD). Dr. Bahoura contributed to more than 90 papers, presentations and book-chapters.
Dr. Bahoura is peer reviewer of research articles submitted to Optics Express, the IJITCE International Journal of Innovative Technology and Creative Engineering, IEEE-Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement Society and to the Journal of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters.In addition Dr. Bahoura is a member of leading societies in his field of research.
