Cybersecurity Summer Academy. During the period of June 29 – July 3, 2015 the Cybersecurity Summer Academy was held for 20 local high school students. The students were primarily from the Norfolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake School Districts and represented all classification levels (freshmen through senior). The academy was designed to increase cyber security awareness among high school students, because research has shown that students who have had an early exposure in middle and high schools to the STEM discipline are more likely to pursue degrees in cybersecurity or related disciplines when they go to college.
