How to Apply

If you are a new student who is planning to use VA education benefits while attending Norfolk State University, you must submit an application to the VA in order to use your benefits.  You can apply for VA education benefits using one of the following methods:
 

  • Apply online at https://www.vets.gov/education/apply/  if you know which benefit you want to use.
  • Visit your nearest VA regional office to apply in person.
  • Consult with the NSU VA Certifying Official in the Military Services and Veterans Affairs Office.
  • Call 1-888-GI BILL-1 (888-442-4551) to have the application mailed to you.

Choose a Degree Program

To be eligible for veteran benefits you need to pick an academic program (associate’s, bachelor’s, masters or certification) to be eligible for military benefits which must be listed in semester, quarter, or clock hours.

Apply to NSU

Active duty, veterans and dependents should apply to Norfolk State University using this Apply Online link. However, Army please apply to: GoArmyEd.

Military Transcript

To request an official joint services transcript, please register for a JST account. Once you have successfully registered, log your JST account and follow the posted instructions on how to obtain your transcript.

Air Force Veterans - please request your transcript from the Community College of the Air Force instead of the Joint Services Transcript.

Request all official coursework from previous institutions you have attended. If you are 21 years or younger request your official high school transcript and if you’ve completed less than 12 college credits.
