Biography:
Dr. Claude F. Turner, Ph.D., is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Norfolk State University (NSU). He is a graduate of the City College of the City University of New York (CUNY), where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1993 and 1995, respectively. In 2003, he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The Graduate Center of CUNY for work in network traffic analysis.

His research interests include cybersecurity, computer forensics, information privacy, data analytics, financial computing, signal processing, and computer science and cybersecurity education. He is author or co-author of approximately 40 peer reviewed publications and has delivered more than 21 presentations at academic conferences.

He has been principal investigator or co-principal investigator on several federally supported projects with a cumulative total of over $3.7 million during the period 2007 through 2017. These projects focused primarily on educational and technical research in cybersecurity. Accomplishments, to date, include the development of the visualization software application, "LUCID: A Spectator Targeted Visualization System for Cyber Defense Competition;” development of algorithms to improve speech forensics and analyze network data; development of laboratory modules to enhance cybersecurity curricula.

Dr. Turner has received several awards, including Best Research Paper of the Year Award from the 8th International Conference on Computer Science Education: Innovation & Technology (CSEIT) and Outstanding Journal Publications Award. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He is the founding Director of the Center for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies at his former institution, Bowie State University.
