The Office of Clinical Experiences and Student Services is a place that is especially organized to assist you, the prospective teacher. You will have the opportunity to engage in experiences that will ease your pathway to becoming a public school educator.

Mission

The Office of Clinical Experiences in the School of Education supports all teacher education programs in the School of Education, College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology. The mission of the Office of Clinical Experiences and Student Services is to provide quality services that support the preparation of educators to work in the P-12 schools.

Academic Support

The Office of Clinical Experiences and Student Services supports programs at Norfolk State University that grant undergraduate and graduate degrees and certification only for P-6, P-12, and 7-12 licensure. The office also supports administration and supervision and school counseling, P-12.  All of the teacher education programs sponsored by the School of Education have been approved by the Virginia Department of Education and have been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and now by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) until 2022.  Each program is designed to prepare educators to meet the certification and licensure requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as requirements for successful study at the graduate school level.

  • Clinical Faculty Training
  • Placement of field experiences for observations, observation/participation, practicum, student teaching, and internship
