Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Team Gears Up for National Championship Tournament

The Norfolk State University Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) Team prepares to compete for $75,000 in Los Angeles, California, March 28 – April 1, 2020.

NSU students must first compete in a Jeopardy-style National Qualifying Tournament (NCT) hosted by Virginia State University February 8, 2020. Two teams, comprised of six students, will represent the Spartans in head-to-head competition against eight other HBCUs for a bid to the NCT.  Senior Gina Gaston and freshmen Raven John and Tekiyah Robinson make up the A Team, while Senior Anaya Artopee and freshmen Ajaya Dixon and To’Niah Harrison make up the B Team.  Both teams are led by Coach Michael Cotter and Assistant Coach Gwendolyn Pharr.

In 1989, Honda joined with the College Bowl Company to establish the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge in support of the unique mission of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities.  Honda’s commitment to HBCUs and their communities demonstrates their belief that success is not measured only in the cars they produce, but in the lives they enhance.

Honda has awarded over $8 million in grants to participating HBCUs. These grants enhance student programs, foster institutional advancement and improve students' college experience.

To help Norfolk State go to the National Championship, vote for our team at My HBCU is a Winner. Vote up to 3x per day through February 10.
