Virginia Requirements
Be registered to vote in Virginia. Check if you’re registered to vote.
- Be a US citizen
- Be 18 by Election Day, Nov 3rd
- Live at a Virginia address
- If you're an ex-felon, you can vote if your rights were restored
- Not currently be judged incompetent by a court
- Not claim the right to vote in another state
In person ID Requirements
All Virginia voters must bring one of the following current and valid forms of photo voter ID to vote early or on Election Day:
- A Virginia driver’s license or Photo ID
- A US Passport or Passport Card
- Includes all schools (public or private) high schools, colleges or universities in Virginia.
- A Virginia photo voter ID obtained from a local general registrar’s office
- Another photo ID issued by the federal government, Virginia, or a local body of Virginia government
- An employee photo ID issued by your employer
- Tribal enrollment or other tribal ID if issued by one of 11 tribes recognized by Virginia
By mail ID requirements
No ID required to vote by mail
