    President Delivers A LEAD Keynote Address

Dr. Tony Atwater, NSU president, served as the class spokesman for LEAD Hampton Roads 2013 leadership class. LEAD Hampton Roads, the region’s oldest and largest leadership organization, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Gov. Bob McDonnell also served as a keynote speaker, while several NSU student musicians provided a special performance for the occasion. The student musicians included Wynton Davis, Phillip Johnson, Tau Chatham-Manigat, Andrew Piland, David Briscoe, Fred Williams, Eric Chastain. The group was put together by Paul Adams, assistant professor of music, who prepared the musical arrangements.

Dr. Arthur W. Bowman, professor of biology, served as a judge for research projects presented at the meeting of the Virginia Academy of Science held at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Va. He also served as a judge for research projects presented at the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair held at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va.

Drs. Ganesan L. Kamatchi and Joseph d’Silva, associate professors of biology, participated in the 4-VA Biology Articulation Conference in Harrisonburg, Va., which discussed changes to AP Biology courses and test strategies that the Virginia Department of Education is implementing to improve articulation, SCHEV transfer policy, best practices and articulation survey results.
