This program the residents will be discussing the movie, "Dangerous Minds". The purpose of this program is to show the residents that in spite of the school you attend or your surroundings, you will face many obstacles and challenges. The residents will discover how important it is to be mentally ready for any challenges throughout their colleges' careers and their lives.

Why Do People Act The Way They Act?

The Nature of this program is to inform the residents on physical and mental health. This documentary by Michael Moore investigates the American Health Care System. One of the most studied and at sometimes the most misunderstood phenomenon is how people develop mentally. Answering the question, "How Do People Become Who They Are?" In this film the residents will analyze who and why people act the way they do.

The purpose of an open/mic forum is to provide a way for the students of Norfolk State University is to express feelings and emotions through song or poem. This program will also give students an opportunity to network by promoting school spirit in a safe and clean environment. Lastly, the program will provide a way for students to be informed between acts on the facts about various STD's.

The purpose of this program is to promote mental and health awareness around the Spartan Suites. The well - being of our residents in the Spartan Suites is our number priority. This program will demonstrate the essential tools needed to have a healthy life. This program is another way for the Spartan Suites residents to fellowship by engaging in a positive and healthy conversation.

Psych…It Matters!!!

The nature of this program will be the viewing of a movie shown by an RA in the Psychology Department. The movie although the title is not known for sure was nominated for many awards in its department. The purpose of the program is for a person to get a better understanding the way others think from a higher standpoint other than themselves. The movie is similar to "28 Days." The "28 Days" movie was also related to mental health but goes into more depth about how it would be in a residence hall.

The purpose of this program is to help students deal with and learn how to manage stressful situations they may encounter. This program is also geared to assist the students with the transitions from living at home to living in a residence hall. Peer pressure is an issue most people deal with on a daily basis. This program is going to provide assistance to derail the negative influences of peer pressure.

2 - million pound challenge - Cardo Jam!:

The nature of this program is to find creative ways for the ladies to release stress. The purpose of this program is to show the residents a variety of ways to keep their stress down while maintaining control in a stressful situation. Unlike the traditional ways of exercising, this program will attempt to demonstrate how the residents can deal with their likes or dislikes in everyday stress. The nature of this program will consist of a DVD/Tape with the residents following along with an instructor giving a session on the topic of stress management. This is a creative way to get the residents to exercise while having fun and releasing stress.

Dodge Ball War

The purpose of Dodge Ball War is to help the students relieve their stress. The program will also seek to help provide a chance for students to network. We will also try to promote school spirit in a healthy, safe, fun and clean environment.

The nature of this program is to help students relax during mid - term week by coloring. This event will also include soft music, giveaways, (stress balls) and provide successful tips for studying for mid - terms.

This program is to allow residents to get to know people in a safe and fun environment. Resident will be giving to opportunity to meet several people during the course of the night. This program is s fast, fun, safe and comfortable way to meet people at NSU. This will be an enjoyable evening of conversation, decision making and several great dates in one fun night.

Wrap It Up!

The purpose of this program is to better educate students about safe Relations ual relations. Relations  education is becoming more common now than ever before, and that is due to increasing rate of teen pregnancy and Relations ually transmitted diseases. Teaching abstinence is clearly not working as effectively as on would hope for teens and for young adults who make the adult decision to have Relations ual relations, it is important to learn what is real and what a myth about safe Relations .

How to Build Healthy Relationships

The nature of this program will be to educate the young ladies on the dynamics of relationships. The dynamics of the relationship will be displayed through mini scenarios played out by the RAs with help from the audiences. The plays will show the positives and negatives of family, couple, and friend relationships. After each scenario is played out in front of the audience, the audience will be invited to comment on what the saw. They will also be asked to re - arrange the scenarios to get a different outcome other than what was originally presented. The purpose of the program is to find a way to creatively educate the audience about the dynamics of a healthy relationship while giving them tips on how to have a positive relationship.
