Preamble to the U. S. Constitution

We The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this, Constitution for the United States of America.

Constitution Day

 

President George W. Bush signed a bill on December 8th, 2004 (Public Law 108-447) which designates every September 17th as Constitution Day.  It is now a federal mandate that all public institutions of Higher Education celebrated the framing of the Constitutions with appropriate activities prior to the disbursement of federal funds for the academic year. Since then all of America has been celebrating Constitution Day for the past six years with the simultaneous recitation of the Preamble, to the United States Constitution with nation’s schools and the military at home and overseas.
