Summer Research Program for Undergraduates

The Center for Materials Research at Norfolk State University invites motivated, dependable students to apply to our Summer Research Program for Undergraduates. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with faculty and graduate students on interdisciplinary research projects involving chemistry, physics, materials science, mathematics and engineering disciplines.  Undergraduate participants also contribute to guidance and leadership of high school students who participate in NSU's summer opportunity for high school students. 

Program Application Requirements:

1) Official/unofficial transcript and two recommendation letters.

2) A 600-word statement about why you would like to participate in the program.

Dates for 2018 Summer Research Program for Undergraduates have not yet been announced.

Summer Research Program for High School Students

The Center for Materials Research at Norfolk State University invites local high school students to apply to our Summer Research Experience. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with faculty, graduate students and undergraduates on interdisciplinary materials research projects involving chemistry, physics, materials science, mathematics and engineering disciplines.

Hampton Roads American Chemical Society Event

The Hampton Roads Local Section of the American Chemical Society, the Department of Chemistry at Norfolk State University (NSU), Norfolk, Granby High School (GHS), Norfolk, Ocean Lakes High School (OLHS), Virginia Beach and Princess Anne High School (PAHS), Virginia Beach, will sponsor the local exams of the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) in the Hampton Roads area this year.  learn more
