NSU’s Office of Information Technology, the Division of Student Affairs and their partner Ellucian have created a myNSU mobile app that will enhance student engagement, recruitment, retention and involvement in campus activities and facilitate information sharing among faculty, administrators, staff and students.
The myNSU mobile app became available in app stores (Apple and Google Play) on June 4.
The myNSU Mobile App project was a collaborative effort involving several University administrative offices — Student Affairs, Dean of Students, Communications and Marketing, Office of Admissions, the Registrar, Student Accounts and the Office of Financial Aid — and groups, including students who selected the face of the app.
The myNSU Mobile app uses the Ideal Spartan icon as the app button and provides students fingertip access to:
- Course schedules
- Student Accounts
- Push notifications (messages pushed directly to mobile devices)
Other features of the new app include links to campus news feeds, campus event feeds, University contacts, Campus map and links to the University’s social media sites. Additionally, the app uses beacon technology . . . a small hardware transmitter that uses Bluetooth frequency to transmit small amounts of data to mobile devices. Beacon technology can be used to announce events in a particular building when a mobile device is within 30 feet of the beacon and/or building.
