Welcome to the Psychology Department at Norfolk State University!

Psychology is one of seven departments within the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) at NSU. We offer numerous courses covering introductory and specialized topics, psychological science, and practical field experience, ultimately leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in General Psychology. In addition, we are part of the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology (VCPCP) Ph.D. program.

Our department is made up of nine full-time faculty members who have each received graduate level preparation and have earned the distinction of a Doctoral degree. Consistent with the mission of NSU, the Psychology Department is committed to providing exemplary teaching, scholarship, and outreach, with the goal of ensuring student success. We are here to work collaboratively with you to become a life-long learner and one who can be a leader and productive citizen.

Please feel free to contact the Psychology Department at 757-823-8573 if you have any questions or to schedule a meeting. We are here to guide you down your unique road to success!

  3. provide a thorough behavioral science background for students whose expertise can be utilized in related human service fields of employment.
