The Norfolk State University Student Ambassadors were founded under the Presidency of Harrison B. Wilson in 1984 and implemented under the leadership and vision of Mrs. Michelle D. Marable, a former Director of Admissions who served as an Admissions Counselor during the aforementioned time period. At that time, the University was rapidly growing and Mrs. Marable envisioned a group of elite students who would serve as the official student representatives for Norfolk State University. These students offered tours and a first-hand view of NSU to prospective students and families. The Student Ambassadors started to branch out and assist with new student orientation, commencement, and other special events. NSU was the first university in the area to implement a Student Ambassador program.
In the year of 2003, Ms. Meshea Moore was announced as the new advisor of the NSU Student Ambassadors. Under her leadership, Student Ambassadors have started formal trainings, hosted leadership conferences with local universities and are steadily growing from a group of 30 to a 60 member group. The Ambassadors continue to assist with campus-wide events, host educational and social events, support various health foundations and have become a strong force at Norfolk State University.
The future of Norfolk State University’s Student Ambassadors depends on those who support the organization. Through continued support from NSU faculty/staff and student body the NSU Student Ambassadors will continue thriving and striving toward greater heights.
