Enhancing Secondary Education

Would you like to become a content area teacher in grades 6-12? If so, the Enhancing Secondary Education Program is a great place to launch your future career. The School of Education (SOE) with collaboration from the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) and the School of Engineering, Science, and Technology (CSET), has created this program to help students obtain teaching licensure as secondary teachers in the subjects of English, History, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Music, Visual Arts, and Health and Physical Education.

Enhancing Secondary Education (ESE) Face-to-Face Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) Workshop Completed

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., ESE provided intensive workshop sessions with educational assistance, guidance, supplies, and support for students interested in teaching. With intensive preparation we assisted students with being confident to take and pass the VCLA examination. Passing this assessment is a requirement for entry into the Teacher Education program and to be a licensed teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Students who participated for the full-day session received a goodie bag of supplies, along with a voucher to pay for the VCLA exam (reading and writing).

Thank you to all of the instructors, staff, and students for joining our workshop this Saturday. Please keep on the look out for emails from Dr. Nicholson about vouchers and additional goodies.
