Norfolk State University is a comprehensive four-year co-educational institution of higher learning housed in the vibrant urban area of Norfolk, Virginia. Located just 20 miles from the beautiful oceanfront of Virginia Beach and less than one hour from historic Williamsburg, the campus spans more than 134 acres of tree lined streets with green spaces flanked by a college of historic and modern buildings.
The institution has a host of regional, disciplines and programs specific accreditations to support the academic success of its students. Norfolk State University is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Ga. 30033, 404-679-4500, www.sasscoc.org) to award associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctorate degrees. It adheres to standards set forth by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
Student may participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as honor societies, special interests clubs, dramas, fraternities or sororities, and musical groups such as orchestra, marching band, jazz band, and choir. On-campus housing is available in nine residential halls, NSU recently opened a new 80,800 sq. ft. modern facility outfitted with a state-of-the-art fitness center, two story bookstore, food court and amphitheater.
