There are a limited number of assistantships available within the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Full-time students should expect to work between fifteen and twenty hours a week during the academic term and if the award is for a calendar year, a similar effort (or an effort agreed upon with the supervisor) will be expected during the summer. To continue to receive such an award, the student should maintain a full-time status and maintain a 3.0 or above GPA.
There may be other types of awards including tuition-wavers and/or stipends. Graduate students should understand any agreements entered into when receiving these awards.
The range of the of graduate stipend awards are indicated below and depend on the funding source and assistantship responsibilities :
Research Assistant: $19,000-$30,000
Teaching Assistant: $19,000-$30,000
Laboratory Assistant: $19,000-$30,000
Each of these stipends requires the student to be enrolled full time .
The graduate assistant may apply for re-appointment at the end of the academic year and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Renewal of awards is usually contingent on availability of funds.
