  • NASA Langley Honors NSU CMR Researchers

    Center for Materials Research (CMR) graduate student, Glenn King (Research Advisor: Dr. Kyo Song), was honored at NASA Langley Research Center’s Inventors Award Ceremony on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Mr. King, who is also a NASA Langley employee, was recognized for his technical achievements including eight patents issued in 2012.

  • CMR Grad Student Rabia Hussain's Paper a Finalist in the Emil Wolf 2013 Outstanding Student Competition

    Rabia Hussain, PhD candidate in the Center for Materials Research (advisor Dr. Natalia Noginova), was selected as a finalist in the prestigious “Emil Wolf 2013 Outstanding Student Paper Competition” for the upcoming Frontiers in Optics (FiO)-2013 conference. This competition recognizes the innovation, research excellence and presentation skills of students..

  • NSF Grant Award:Acquisition of an Integrated System of Instruments for Multichannel Biopotential Recording of In-vitro and In-vivo Experiments

    Dr. Hargsoon Yoon and his research team have received a two year $240k grant from the National Science Foundation entitled, "Acquisition of an Integrated System of Instruments for Multichannel Biopotential Recording of In-vitro and In-vivo Experiments." The project is in collaboration with investigators at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University. Drs. Kyo Song and Frances Williams from the Center for Materials Research are also co-investigators on this grant.

  • NSU CMR Graduate Student Sha’La Fletcher, Places 1st in ERN Poster Presentation

    Sha’La Fletcher, Ph.D. Candidate in Dr. Aswini Pradhan's research group in the Center for Materials Research, won the 1st place award for Graduate Poster Presentation in Nanoscience at the 2013 Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The ERN Conference in STEM is hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)—Education and Human Resources Programs (EHR) and the National Science Foundation (NSF)—Division of Human Resource Development (HRD), within the Directorate for Education and Human Resources. The ERN Conference was held February 28- March 2, 2013 in Washington, DC.
