Construction to Begin on New Campus Entrance

Construction for the Phase 1 portion of the Gate 1 (Park Avenue) entrance will begin Monday, December 10. Gate 1 is the main entrance to the University. The new entrance will represent the spirit and pride of the Norfolk State community. This entrance will convey a sense of arrival to the campus by signaling the beginning of a new and unique experience for all who traverse on to campus.

Phase 1 of the new entrance will include a wall constructed of brick and masonry concrete that forms an arch at pedestrian entry points and includes a re-alignment of Presidential Parkway, and new landscaping.

As a result of the construction work, starting December 10, and continuing through January 1, 2019, Gate 1 will be closed to all traffic. All vehicular traffic will be able to enter the University from Gate 3 (Corprew Avenue) or Gate 8 (Middle Towne Crescent). Gate 1 will reopen from January 2 to January 14 to allow for the beginning of the Spring Semester. Due to construction activities, Gate 1 will close again from January 14 through February 1.
