Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior.

Mission and Goals

The mission of the sociology department is to increase the understanding of social behavior by promoting original research and teaching individuals the principles and methodologies of sociology.

1. Prepare students to deal with social problems & issues by:

  • Understanding scientific principles of social life
  • Gaining skills in critical thinking, research & data interpretation
  • Gaining practical experience through internships
  • Applying scientific principles to social problems

2. Support and encourage students to develop their full potential and achieve excellence.

3. Execute research to contribute to new knowledge.

4. Serve as an interface between the theoretical university and the pragmatically oriented community.

5. Respond to a dynamically changing society by developing innovative programs to meet the changing needs.
