EVMS, ODU and NSU Receive 3 Million Dollars in Grants from Sentara Healthcare to Tackle Disparities in Maternal and Behavioral Health

These collaborative grants are part of the $50 million investment from the Sentara Healthier Communities Fund to address health disparities, working with local partner universities – Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), Old Dominion University (ODU), and Norfolk State University (NSU) – alongside the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD).

World’s Largest Black Theatre Festival Selects NSU Theatre to Perform

The National Black Theatre Festival, the largest Black theatre festival in the world, recently announced the festival selections for 2022. The festival attracts over 60,000 attendees and Norfolk State University Theatre’s award-winning production of A Soldier’s Play has been selected.

NSU Cybersecurity Program Nationally Endorsed

For the third consecutive time, "Norfolk State University has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) for the validated program(s) of study through the academic year 2027."

Library Boasts Updated 3D Print Lab in New Makerspace

NSU new 3D printers installed in the NSU Library

Culminating a three-year project, the library now boasts a new, fully operational, and fully updated 3D Printing Lab in its new first floor Makerspace. 3D printing is the ability to create three-dimensional objects using specialized software to create 3D models made of plastic (or other materials) that has been melted and resolidified into the desired design.

Two Spartans Graduate to the NFL

Two former Norfolk State football players will get their crack at making an NFL roster. Former Spartan defensive end De'Shaan Dixon has signed a free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while former NSU receiver Marcque Ellington accepted an invitation to the New York Giants rookie mini-camp.
