What is the URL?
Accessing the NSU Intranet
SpartanNet is the Norfolk State University Intranet for NSU Faculty/Staff and
Students. NSU Departments who have Websites on the NSU LAN, also may have a
Secure Site to compliment the non-secure website.
The main link to SpartanNet is at the top of
http://www.nsu.edu . Department websites that do have Secure
sites will have a link on their left navigational bar to the secure site,
signified with a 'secure icon'. (i.e.
Secure Web Help).
If you need to find a secure site, please go to the Site Index on the
SpartanNet website for a complete listing of Secure Sites on the NSU Intranet.
Please note that some websites may further restrict their website
access to 'ONLY' NSU Faculty/Staff. These links will have a notation under the
link (Accessible only by NSU Faculty/Staff).
Logging In to SpartanNet
NSU Faculty/Staff and Students are able to login to SpartanNet when off the NSU
LAN (at home, traveling, etc..) when connectivity to the Internet allows.
Instructions for logging on when not logged in
through the NSU LAN

Example for Faculty/Staff:
User Name: username + @nsu.edu
Password: Enter your network password
Example for Students:
User Name: Student username + @nsu.edu
Example: i.m.student@nsu.edu
Password: Enter your network password
For First Time Users - there will be a
'Certificate' you need to accept to be able to login when off the NSU LAN
Problems Accessing SpartanNet
1. Are you typing in:
https://SpartanNet.nsu.edu (please note it is
https: NOT http:)
2. Are you a NSU Student trying to access a NSU Faculty/Staff ONLY section?
3. Did you forget your Student username / password? Use the
Student ID Lookup
4. Are you accepting the 'Certificate' that displays upon first time access?
5. Trusted Site - you may need to add SpartanNet to your 'Trusted
Site' listing in your Internet Explorer Browser:
- Open Internet Explorer Browser
- Tools + Internet Options
- Click Security Tab
- Click 'Trusted Sites' icon
- Click 'SITES' (button to right)
- in the 'Add this website to the zone' - enter
https://spartannet.nsu.edu (do not forget it is https:// and not
http://
- Check the box for 'Require Server Verification (https://) for all sites
in this zone.
- Click OK
- Click OK again to shut the pop-ups
- try to login to
https://spartannet.nsu.edu again
- if problem persists - contact NSU Webmaster

6. Are you typing in your username@nsu.edu?
If you are not you will see this:
Change the spartannet\ to NSU_LAN
And you will be granted access with the proper password.
Password Problems
If you should experience any problems logging into your account, please visit
one of the OIT-managed computer laboratories in the University Library, Brown
Memorial Hall, the Wood Sciences Building, or the Spartan Station Mall for
assistance.
Students will need to show either their University identification card or
other picture identification along with a current schedule of their classes to
the computer laboratory specialist in order to receive their accounts.
