Veteran Affairs

 New Veterans Program

Strengthening Services to Veterans and International Students (SSVIS) is a new program in the Veterans Affairs Office (VAO) designed to assist Veterans in making a positive transition from military to civilian/college life. SSVIS is a Title III funded program administered by the Veterans Affairs Office. Dr. Hughlet Powell, NSU Veterans Mental Health Treatment Specialist and Mrs. Pamela Riddick, Veterans Program Coordinator are housing in the Counseling Center and the Veterans Affairs Office, respectively. Dr. Powell is available to provide private consultations with students, faculty, and staff in respect to the mental health issues of Veterans. Ms. Riddick facilitates activities and provides specialized informational services to the Veteran student population and advises students regarding eligibility for veterans’ benefits, counseling, and job placements. For more information about SSVIS and its special programs and services, visit the Veterans Affairs Office, located in the new Student Services Building, Suite 307.
