Military Education Programs
General Description
Norfolk State University’s mission is to provide an affordable and high-quality education to a diverse active duty military, active duty reservists, retired military, military family members , DOD civilians and other NON-DOD civilians throughout the Hampton Roads area. In today’s global marketplace, it is vitally important our military students are exposed to all degree programs offered by this institution. Norfolk State University provides “one-stop” services in counseling, advising, course registrations , admissions requirements, program referrals, SOC preparations and tuition payment at our
Naval Station Office located Building CEP-87, Room 202,
Monday through Friday between the hours: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, except as noted below.
At our Naval Station site, we offer an Undergraduate Degree program in Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (INT Studies)- 120 credits, and Master of Arts Urban Education Community Counseling (UEDCCN)- 39 credits. Classes are offered in an “accelerated 8 or 9 weeks” format.
Navy College Office Dam Neck
Every Second & Fourth Tuesday Each Month, 9.00 am to 1.00 pm to military students assigned onboard Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana & NAS Annex Dam Neck.
Navy College Office Portsmouth
Third Wednesday Each Month, 9.00 am to 1.00 pm to military students assigned to Naval Hospital Portsmouth and surrounding military areas.
Norfolk State University is a participating member in the Service members Opportunity Colleges Network, and has articulation agreements with and other schools such as Tidewater Community Colleges, guaranteeing transfer of course credits from other accredited colleges and universities across the United States. Additionally, Norfolk State University has Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Special Arrangements Contracts (SACs), allowing out-of-state military students stationed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, to pay in-state tuition rates. Our degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, master and doctoral degrees.
