What is Online SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorization?

If you are a full-time student or a part-time student with at least 6 registered credit hours, and you are expecting a financial aid refund, you may be eligible to use Online SpartanCard Authorization feature. However, if you meet the above criteria, but have an outstanding balance from a prior term, you will not be eligible to use Online SpartanCard Authorization feature.

You can access this feature by using MyNSU under Spartan Self Service  You can select SpartanCard Authorization link to authorize funds to be placed on your SpartanCard.  In order to purchase a commuter meal plan, select Commuter Meal Plan link and follow instructions.

Can I use Online SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorization if I am a part-time student?

Only part-time students with at least 6 registered credit hours are eligible to use Online Authorization feature.  All other students must visit Student Accounts Office in order to get SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorizations.

I have a prior balance.  What should I do?

You can pay your previous balance in full on MyNSU under Spartan Self Service, or in person by visiting Cashier's Office in Wilson Hall.  Once the prior balance is paid in full, you may become eligible to use the Online SpartanCard Authorization feature.

When will my Online SpartanCard Authorization funds be available for use?

Online SpartanCard Authorization process can take up to 20 minutes.  Therefore, please allow at least 20 minutes before attempting to use these funds.

When will my Online Commuter Meal Plan Authorization be available for use?

Online Commuter Meal Plan Authorization process can take up to 20 minutes.  However, please keep in mind that meal plans are only available for use between the first and the last day of classes each semester.  All unused meals expire at the end of each semester.

What is the minimum/maximum amount I can authorize for SpartanCard Authorization?

All Online SpartanCard Authorizations must be a minimum of $25.  The total of all authorizations cannot exceed $1,000 per semester for full-time students and $600 for part-time students.  If you have less than $25 available, you must visit Student Accounts office to obtain authorization.

When will I be able to use the Online SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorization?

If you meet the criteria, you can use the Online SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorization 12 days before the start of classes through 14 days after the start of classes during Fall and Spring semesters.  Online SpartanCard/Commuter Meal Plan Authorizations are not available for Summer terms.
