 Direct Deposit Refund FAQ

Do I need to enroll in Student Refunds Direct Deposit program?

Every student at NSU should enroll in this program, to include freshmen, transfers and even students who have never received any refunds from the University. In the event that you become eligible for a refund, this will allow timely transfer of funds to your bank account.

What information do I need to enroll in Direct Deposit?

You will need an active bank account, it’s routing/transit number and account number. These numbers are located on your checks or can be found in the bank statements received from your bank. In case of savings account, contact your bank for the correct ACH routing and account numbers. Do not use the routing number from the savings deposit slip.

Before submitting this information, please verify that your bank is a member of Automated Clearing House (ACH). Direct deposits can be made into checking or savings accounts.

What happens if I change bank accounts?

Please be sure to keep your banking information up-to-date by changing it on MyNSU under Spartan Self Service. Changes will become effective within 24 hours. If a refund has been direct deposited into a closed account, the bank will return the funds to NSU. At this point, you will be issued a paper check within 10 business days. You will receive an email (sent to your NSU email account) notifying you of the availability of your refund.

How long will it take to have my refund deposited into my bank account?

You may view your refund status on MyNSU under Spartan Self Service by clicking the “Account Summary by Term” link. Once you see a refund posted on your account, please allow 5-7 business days for the refund to be deposited into your bank account. It is your responsibility to verify that the refund has been credited to your bank account before writing checks against these funds.

How do I know when my refund has been deposited?

Notification of the anticipated deposit date of the refund will be sent to your NSU email account.

Will I be able to receive a check for part of my refund and have the rest deposited directly to my bank account?

With direct deposit, the entire amount of your refund must be deposited to your bank account.

I want my refund direct deposited but I do not have a bank account.  What should I do?

You may open a free student checking account online with Bank of America by following this link, https://www4.bankofamerica.com/applyonline/ and selecting CampusEdge® Checking option. All the features and benefits of this checking account can also be found at the above link.
