Faculty Receives LERN Online Certification
The School of Extended Learning would like to congratulate Dr. Joe D’Silva for completing the nationally recognized LERN Certified Online Instructor Program. The Learning Resource Network (LERN) is the leading provider of online professional development in higher education. Over 5,000 professors from 10 countries have participated in LERN. Dr. D’Silva completed a very intense and demanding process which included critique and student evaluation of his online courses, completion of three online training courses, and passing an exit knowledge exam. The Office of eLearning uses the LERN program as Module 3 of its faculty online certification program.

Award Recipient Dr. Arletha McSwain, Interim Associate Dean for the School of Extended Learning received the
Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology at the
22nd International Conference in Teaching and Learning. Dr. McSwain’s presentation was titled “Was It Worth The Risk?” and centered around her making the successful transition from education administration to technology administration. Her presentation highlighted the Office of eLearning’s Faculty Certification Online Program and the Blackboard Student Training Tutorials that were piloted in her Fall 2010 INT 350 Trends and Issues in Diverse Populations course.
