University Housing WaitlistApplications
for NSU housing for the fall semester are open each
spring semester. Housing is provided on a first
come, first serve basis according to when the mandatory
requirements are submitted to our office.
Some students may be placed on our waitlist and
will not receive on-campus housing prior to August
move-in.
The Office of Residence Life & Housing is dedicated
to locating a place for students on campus and will
continue to place students from the waitlist into
campus housing as spaces are made available via
cancellations. Please read this page for a complete
explanation.

How the waitlist works?
The waitlist is provided for students who desire
housing but have not yet been confirmed for campus
housing because a space was not available at the
time of their request. The waitlist is structured
based upon when the requirements for housing were
received.
The waitlist will be available as long as there
are students who require housing.
If a student does not receive on-campus housing
by fall check-in, they will need to find temporary
housing until on-campus housing becomes available.
The Office of Residence Life & Housing recommends
students look for accommodations by using the Off-Campus
website which provides resources for both short-term
and long-term accommodations. View the most recent
list here:

.
How do I get on the waitlist?
Once housing is full and the waitlist opens, students
who submit a housing application are automatically
placed on the waitlist. To place your name on the
waitlist click here

.
What's my waitlist status?
The Office of Residence Life & Housing updates the
waitlist as cancellations are received. You will
receive a phone call regarding the possibility of
receiving housing once space becomes available.
Have questions about your waitlist status?
The ratio of waitlist students to the number of
students who cancel their housing varies significantly
each year making it close to impossible to approximate
when a student may receive campus housing. The Office
of Residence Life & Housing always recommends planning
ahead by looking into short-term accommodations
or off-campus housing. Off-campus housing listings
are placed on our website.
How will I know I have housing?
Waitlist students will be contacted by the telephone
number indicated on their application. A housing
representative will call to offer the next available
space; the student will have 24 hours to secure
the space by paying the $300 non-refundable deposit
and registering for the fall 2009 semester. If the
student declines or does not respond, the next person
on the waitlist will be contacted, and so on. When
another space becomes available another attempt
will be made to contact the first person.
How do I cancel?
To cancel a student's waitlist position, submit
your cancellation request to
housing@nsu.edu with
the following information:
First and Last Name
Student ID Number
Request to cancel your housing/ housing application
for the fall 2009 semester
What do I do on Move-In Day?
Move-in day is an exciting event for our campus.
The Office of Residence Life & Housing realizes
the burden some of our students face as move-in
day approaches and their housing is unsettled. Regretfully,
the Office of Residence Life & Housing is not able
to give waitlist updates on move-in day. The Office
of Residence Life & Housing kindly requests your
patience on move-in day and the week following as
we work quickly to move the waitlist along with
the most possible expediency.
Pursuant to this expediency, requests for room changes
will not be honored until Room Consolidation in
order to accurately collect residents’ census. Any
confirmed resident who does not check-in or make
arrangements by August 24th will forfeit their housing.
The Office of Residence Life & Housing cannot release
a student's confirmed space until the student has
given written cancellation of their housing assignment.
Meal Plans
A student who is on the waitlist and has not yet
moved into housing does not have an active meal
plan. Students on the waitlist will not have an
activated meal plan until the student is confirmed
for and moves into on-campus housing.
In the meantime, while a student waits for housing,
individual meals can be purchased from the Dining
Halls or the student can purchase a "Commuter Meal
Plan."

meal plan visit
