Hall Supervision

Each residence hall is supervised by a Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) and a Graduate Assistant (GA). The RHC is responsible for the daily housing operation of his/her assigned residence hall. The office hours for the Residence Hall Coordinator are typically Monday-Friday, 7AM-4PM and on-call, as needed. The GA for each hall is a full-time graduate student responsible for supervising the assigned Resident Assistants, providing counseling and mediation support to all hall residents and overseeing the program administration for their assigned hall. Each hall is also staffed with Resident Assistants (RA) who are full-time undergraduate students that are trained to live and work with the residential students in their assigned hall. Night supervision is provided in each residence hall on a nightly basis, seven days a week, by Community Assistance Officers (CAO) who are full-time staff.

The Spartan Suites Apartment Complex is currently managed by Ambling Management Company. A full-time Property Manager is on-site, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. He/she is assisted by a full-time Assistant Property Manager and full-time Leasing Consultant. Additionally, night supervision is provided by full-time staff on a nightly basis, seven days a week. Spartan Suites also has a Graduate Assistant and Resident Assistants who assist with the supervision of the residential apartment complex.

 Residence Hall Association (RHA)

All students who live in the residence halls are members of the Residence Hall Association (RHA). RHA represents the interest of residents to the Office of Residence Life & Housing, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Administration, and the Student Government Association. All students are encouraged to become an integral part of the RHA council in their respective residence hall.

For further information on the Residence Hall Association, please contact Kendall Pete, Acting Assistant Director of Residence Life at (757) 823-8407, or Marcus Porter, Residence Life Educator at (757) 823-2336.
