Anti-Virus Help
By following a few simple rules you can avoid problems with viruses.
Their are additional things you can do to better protect your computer
like installing a personal firewall on your PC, but by following the above
rules you are well on your way to safe computing.

Rule #1:

- Always use an anti-virus program and keep it's definitions up
to date.
- OIT uses Norton anti-virus on all it's computers and pushes new
definitions (also called signatures) out at least once a day.
- Norton
anti-virus is a retail product but their are many free anti-virus products
that are free to non-commercial users.
- Go to downloads for links to these products.
Rule #3:
- Keep your system updated. Microsoft is constantly releasing
critical updates, service packs, and hotfixes.
- If you are running a
version of Windows go to the Microsoft update site at
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com to check for any
needed updates.
