Admission Criteria  |  Program of Study

Admission Criteria

Admission into the LPN/BSN track is competitive and open to qualified students. The admission criteria are:

  1. Completion of prerequisite courses, credit by examination (CLEP, ACT) and/or advance placement credits.
  2. Admission to the University by December 1st for May admission, and August 1stfor January admission.
  3. Submission of a separate application for admission to the Nursing Department on or before December 1st for May admission; August 1st for January admission.
  4. A cumulative grade point average of 2.5, and “C” in the following courses: Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry (high school grade of “C” accepted); and Pathophysiology.
  5. Receipt of official transcript(s) from previously attended college(s); and practical nursing program
  6. Current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  7. Two units of math, one of which must be algebra and a minimum grade of “C” are required.
