| January 17, 2008 Dear Student:
Welcome to the School of Science and Technology at
Norfolk State University! We are very excited that you have
chosen to join us for your postsecondary education.
You are embarking on an extremely important journey—transitioning from high school to
college and seeking a baccalaureate degree. One of the initiatives newly instituted by NSU is the
summer reading program. All new students will be required to read two books. One book
will be read by all incoming freshmen and the second book is required of all science
majors. Here are the books you should read before arriving on campus in the fall:
1) Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson
2)
Letters to a Young Brother, MANifest Your Destiny
by Hill Harper
Both of these books are available in major bookstores. You may also take advantage of used
copies by ordering online at Amazon.com. You will be given further instructions regarding the
discussion of and assignments for these readings in the UNI 101 course. UNI 101 is a required
course for graduation from Norfolk State University. Since each major has a specific reading
selection, you should notify us immediately if you decide to change your major. Please be reminded that as a prospective student in the
School of Science and Technology, you will be required to
take a Mathematics Placement Test during the New Student
Orientation Program.
We are looking forward to meeting you and having you
become involved in the activities of the school. BEHOLD THE
GREEN AND GOLD! |
