January 2008
Dear School of Business Student:
Welcome to the School of Business at
Norfolk State University. We are very pleased with your
choice to join us for your education. You will be proud to
know that the NSU School of Business is accredited by AACSB
International, the highest standard of achievement for
schools of business. Less than one-third of all business
schools in the nation are accredited by AACSB International.
Currently, we are one of only fifteen HBCU's to have
attained this level of distinction. We wish you every
success in pursuing your academic program in the NSU School
of Business.
To assist you with the transition to the
School of Business, a new initiative was recently instituted
by Norfolk State University--the "Reading Program." All new
students are required to read two books. One book will be
read by incoming freshmen and transfer students; and, the
second book is required of all School of Business majors.
The books you need to read before arriving on campus in the
fall are as follows:
1. Who Moved My Cheese? By Spencer Johnson
2. Ethics 101: What Every Leader Needs to Know. By John C.
Maxwell
Both of these books are available in
bookstores. You may also take advantage of used copies by
ordering online. You will be given further instructions
regarding the discussion of and assignments for these
readings in the UNI 101 course. UNI 101 is a required course
for graduation from Norfolk State University. Since each
major has a specific reading selection, you need to notify
us immediately if you decide to change your major to one
outside of the School of Business.
We are looking forward to meeting you and
having you become involved in the activities of the School
of Business. BEHOLD THE GREEN AND GOLD!
