NSU’s School of Business Receives Maintenance of
Accreditation from AACSB International
Norfolk,
Va.—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business recently announced that Norfolk State
University has earned its maintenance of accreditation
in business. NSU’s School of Business programs have been
accredited since 1990. Founded in 1916, AACSB
International is the longest serving global accrediting
body for business schools that offer undergraduate,
master's, and doctoral degrees in business and
accounting.
"It
takes a great deal of commitment and determination to
earn and maintain AACSB accreditation," said Jerry
Trapnell, executive vice president and chief
accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Schools
not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but
their deans, faculties and staffs make a commitment to
ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will
continue to deliver high quality education to students."
AACSB
International accreditation assures stakeholders that
business schools manage resources to achieve a vibrant
and relevant mission; advance business and management
knowledge through faculty scholarship; provide
high-caliber teaching of quality and current curricula;
cultivate meaningful interaction between students and a
qualified faculty; and produce graduates who have
achieved specified learning goals.
“The
AACSB's announcement of the maintenance of the business
school’s accreditation is an important indicator of the
quality of business programs offered at Norfolk State
University,” said Gary L. Whaley, dean of NSU’s School
of Business. “The maintenance of AACSB accreditation is
further testimony to the quality of faculty, staff, and
the student body in the School of Business.” Whaley
also wishes to thank the NSU Provost Y. T. Shah and
President Carolyn W. Meyers for their continued support
of the School of Business and it programs.
AACSB
accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business
education and has been earned by less than five percent
of the world's business schools. Today, there are 567
business schools in 33 countries that maintain AACSB
accreditation. Similarly, 171 institutions now maintain
an additional specialized AACSB accreditation for their
accounting programs.
