Norfolk State to Host National Start!
Walking at Work Day
To be Held April 8
Norfolk,
Va.—In
support of the American Heart Association, Norfolk State
University will join Americans across the country for a
National Start! Walking at Work Day celebration at noon
Wednesday, April 8 at William “Dick” Price stadium,
which is located on the NSU campus.
Designed to
promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the
National Start! Heart Walk creates an environment that's
fun and rewarding for the entire community. This year,
more than 1 million walkers will participate in more
than 425 events.
NSU
faculty, staff and students will walk towards a
healthier lifestyle and raise awareness about heart
disease. A host of free health screenings including
blood pressure and blood sugar checks along with
nutrition facts and heart healthy tips will be offered.
Give-a-ways, music, and cheers from the NSU cheerleaders
will also be provided.
Free and
open to the community, all participants are encouraged
to bring a pair of sneakers and pledge to make a healthy
