Norfolk State to Host National Start! Walking at Work Day

To be Held April 8

Norfolk, Va.—In support of the American Heart Association, Norfolk State University will join Americans across the country for a National Start! Walking at Work Day celebration at noon Wednesday, April 8 at William “Dick” Price stadium, which is located on the NSU campus.

Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the National Start! Heart Walk creates an environment that's fun and rewarding for the entire community. This year, more than 1 million walkers will participate in more than 425 events.

NSU faculty, staff and students will walk towards a healthier lifestyle and raise awareness about heart disease.  A host of free health screenings including blood pressure and blood sugar checks along with nutrition facts and heart healthy tips will be offered. Give-a-ways, music, and cheers from the NSU cheerleaders will also be provided.

Free and open to the community, all participants are encouraged to bring a pair of sneakers and pledge to make a healthy lifestyle change. For more information, call 823-8373.
