NSU to Host Earvin “Magic” Johnson Book Signing Dec. 4
Norfolk,
Va.—As part of his national book tour, Earvin
“Magic” Johnson, a retired NBA basketball star and
chairman and chief executive officer of Magic Johnson
Enterprises, will visit Norfolk State University to
promote his new book 32 Ways to Be a Champion in
Business. Open to the public, Johnson will sign copies
of his book from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 4 at
the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center.
In 32
Ways to Be a Champion in Business, Johnson offers
practical and invaluable real-world advice on starting,
financing, marketing and growing a business; building
and motivating a team; capitalizing on opportunities;
forming partnerships and joint ventures; buying and
running franchises; serving customers; maintaining
balance; and giving back through philanthropy.
Johnson
also discusses how he had to overcome doubts about his
business acumen and convince bankers and business
veterans that underserved minority communities were
ready for big retail brands that had focused mostly on
suburban markets. For more than 25 years, Johnson has
served as a catalyst for the community and economic
empowerment by making high-quality entertainment,
products and services available to meet the needs of
ethnically diverse urban communities.
Co-sponsored by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers and
NSU’s School of Business, Johnson’s book will be sold at
the book signing for $22. For more information, call
