NSU to Host Third Hands-On FutureTech Event on August 23
Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk
State University will host the 3rd Hands-On FutureTech
event Saturday, August 23 at the Marie V. McDemmond
Center for Applied Research, which is located on the NSU
campus. The event is free and open to students
interested in science and technology.
Funded
by the National Science Foundation, FutureTech will
bring faculty, staff and graduate students from several
research centers to the NSU campus to learn more about
cutting-edge research occurring at NSU and throughout
the country. Participants will also learn about
opportunities at Science and Technology Centers,
understand the research that shapes our future, and find
out how they can get involved. There will also be a host
of hands-on demonstrations as well as fun and
interactive experiments.
Participating universities include Norfolk State
University, Purdue University, University of Washington,
Cornell University, Georgia Tech, and University of
California at Los Angeles. They represent the
Partnership for Photonic Metamaterials, led by NSU; the
Center for Embedded Network Sensing, led by UCLA; the
Center for Materials and Devices for Information
Technology, led by UW; Cornell Center for Materials
Research and the Purdue¹s Network for Computational
Nanotechnology, which has awarded NSU a grant to provide
this free event to local students.
