NSU Alumnus to be Inducted into National Black College
Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc.

 

Norfolk, Va.—Denise Dowse, an NSU alumnus and actress who appeared in the movies Ray and Coach Carter, has been selected by the Board of Directors of the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. for induction into the 2008 Class for her exceptional achievement in the field of entertainment.

With nearly 20 years of professional experience, Dowse is a performer, director, humanitarian, NAACP Image Award recipient and acting coach. She is best known to television audiences for her recurring role as Mrs. Teasley, the vice principal on the long-running hit Beverly Hills 90210. In recent years, she performed in Norfolk at the opening of the Afr’Am festival in Terrance Afer-Anderson’s Hiram and Nettie. She also directed Malcolm Jamal Warner’s Spoken Word One Man Show for the 2005 National Black Theatre.

The 23rd Annual Induction Ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. For more information, contact the Office of Communications and Marketing at 823-8373.
