NSU Homecoming Parade Moves in New Direction

Norfolk, Va.—NSU’s Homecoming Parade is an annual tradition featuring various university and community organizations.  But this year, the parade, which will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, will be moving in a different direction.

Operating under the theme “A Celebration of Achievements: Homecoming 2007,” the parade will be led by Grand Marshals Harrison B. Wilson, NSU’s second president from 1975-1997, and his wife Lucy R. Wilson.  NSU alumnus April Holmes, a record-setting paralympian who won two gold medals at the 2006 International Paralympic Committee World Championships, will serve as the honorary grand marshal.

The parade route will begin at Bellmore Ave, which is located one block west of Ballentine Blvd., across from the Broad Creek neighborhood.  It will then make a left turn on Virginia Beach Blvd., heading west towards downtown; left on Marathon Ave., heading south; right on Corprew Ave., heading west; and conclude at Corprew Ave. near the Robinson Technology Bldg.

The viewing stand will be held in Parking Lot #30, which is located on Corprew Ave. near the Robinson Technology Bldg.
