Norfolk, Va.—Governor Timothy Kaine has appointed two new members to the Norfolk State University Board of Visitors. The newest board members are Gary T. McCollum of Virginia Beach was named to the position at Cox in June 2006 after serving as vice president and general manager for Cox Communications in Northern Virginia. McCollum replaces Jack L. Ezzell Jr.

Tucker, who lives in Richmond, was vice president and director of planning for Henderson Advertising in Greenville, S.C., before joining The Martin Agency and has a teaching background in higher education. Tucker was a tenured associate professor at the University of South Carolina and was awarded many higher education teaching grants throughout her career. She succeeds Donald H. Patterson Jr.

Kaine also reappointed Bobby N. Vassar and Henry D. Light to the Board of Visitors. Vassar, a graduate of Norfolk State, is the chief counsel on the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. He is the Board of Visitors rector. His professional affiliations have included the Virginia State Bar, District of Columbia Bar, Old Dominion Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Light, a Norfolk resident, serves as Of Counsel to the law firm of Crenshaw, Ware & Martin PLC. He was senior vice president-law for Norfolk Southern in his previous position. Light’s civic duties have included board chair, WHRO; president, Virginia Zoological Society; and board of directors, the Norfolk Forum. He is also a member of the American Bar, Virginia Bar, Virginia State Bar and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
All of the appointees’ terms expire on June 30, 2011.
