NSU to Host Wireless Technology Workshop
Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University and
ECPI College of Technology will host a three-day
wireless technology professional development workshop
February 6-8 at the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts
Center, which is located on the NSU campus.
Geared
towards information technology faculty (full and
part-time) at two and four year institutions, and
administrators from the community colleges system, the
workshop will provide participants the opportunity to
gain knowledge about new emerging technologies in
wireless communications and develop a sample curriculum
that integrates industry skill sets and competencies to
ensure graduates are well prepared for the workforce.
Participants will also gain basic knowledge of concept
map use in curriculum delivery and instruction.
Keynote speakers for the workshop will address new
trends in wireless technologies and their impact on
current curriculum, and the never-ending race for
curriculum update and development. New and innovative
methodologies and delivery techniques promoting
active/cooperative, project-based, and conceptual
learning will also be presented through dedicated
sessions. Additionally, vendor demo and product showcase
of educational wireless equipment will be exhibited on
the last day of the workshop.
The wireless workshop
is partially sponsored by the National Science
Foundation, Advanced Technological Education program,
which focuses on two-year colleges to enhance the
education of technicians in new and high-technology
fields that drive our nation’s economy.
Registration
for the workshop, which includes all workshop materials
as well as breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks, is $180.
