Norfolk State University Black History Month Activities

Norfolk, Va.—During the month of February, Norfolk State University will be celebrating Black History Month. Below is a listing of lectures, film series and seminars, which are free and open to the public. 1-28 February
The Riches of Family Exhibit from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Exhibit presented in conjunction with the NSU Honors Program and the Southeastern Virginia Arts Association (SEVAA). Harrison B. Wilson Archives and Gallery. Time: Weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

6 February, Tuesday

Lecture. The Middle East. Scholars from the Center for Strategic and Global Studies. Brown Hall, Room 231. Time: Noon to 1 p.m.

15 February, Thursday
Presentation and Lecture. Virginia Nurses Association, District #4 Annual Student Meeting. Sponsored by NSU’s Department of Nursing. Scott-Dozier Dining Hall, 2nd Floor Banquet Room. Event includes a poster competition in reference to African-American nurses who have achieved the “First” designations. Time: TBA.

16 February, Friday
Health Fair. Reducing Health Disparities. Sponsored by NSU’s Department of Nursing. Mills E. Godwin Student Center, Ballroom. Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Presentation & Book Signing. Guest author, Dr. Edward J. Perkins, first Black U.S. ambassador to South Africa and the William J. Crowe Professor of Geopolitics and Executive Director of International Programs Center at the University of Oklahoma. He will discuss his experiences and his recently released autobiography, Mr. Ambassador: Warrior for Peace. Brown Hall, Room 231. Time: Noon to 1 p.m.

28 February, Wednesday
Panel Presentation and Discussion. The Fulbright Circle. NSU Fulbright Scholars will discuss the Fulbright Scholars Program and their achievements. Brown Hall, Room 231. Time: Noon to 1 p.m.
