Virginia State Senator Donates Documents to
Norfolk State University Harrison B. Wilson Archives
Norfolk, Va.— Virginia General Assembly
Senator Yvonne B. Miller has recently donated a
collection of documents to the Harrison B. Wilson
Archives located at Norfolk State University. A
preliminary survey of the documents by NSU archivist Dr.
Tommy L. Bogger concludes that the Senator has donated a
significant collection of records from her political and
community service.
Among the documents collected include Senator Miller’s
correspondence, the Study of the Juvenile Justice System
Reform, 1995 General Assembly elections highlights, 1996
General Assembly minutes book, several volumes of the
Journal of Negro Education, magazines, political banners
and signs, booklets and brochures. “We’re interested in
collecting and preserving African-American history in
Virginia and especially in the Tidewater area. Dr.
Miller has been a long-time politician and her documents
provide a great deal of history,” said Bogger. “Her
papers significantly enhance our local history
manuscript collections, and we are honored to have
them.” Senator Miller is also a professor emeritus of
NSU.
Senator Miller’s records will be preserved and secured
under archival conditions and made available to students
and researchers. For more information, contact Dr. Tommy
Bogger at the NSU Archives at 757-823-2004.
