NSU Hosts Community Forum Dealing with Terrorism

Norfolk, VA - Norfolk State University will host a community forum titled 9/11 Commemoration: Then and Now Monday, Sept 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center, Room C.

Free and open to the public, the community forum series is designed to increase community awareness about current issues; assess socio-economic, political and environmental issues facing our society; integrate immediate strategies and proactive solutions into actions that will promote the welfare of the community and University; engage stakeholders in building community involvement partnerships; and to promote NSU's commitment to community service by providing information for faculty experts.

The forum panelists will be Byron Cherry, author of the book Are We Safer Now?: Airline Security in a Post 9/11 Society along with Carol Pretlow, NSU's resident expert on terrorism.  Attendees will be given the opportunity to ask questions and get answers from the expert panel.

Geared towards community leaders, grassroots organizations, civic leaders, media representatives, religious organizations and other interested organizations, the forum will commemorate the tragedy of 9/11, honor the lives list, and discuss the country's progress.

Due to limited seating, pre-registration is preferred.  For more information or to register, call Meredythe Hutchinson at 823-8135.
