Norfolk State University Stages Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University students, alumni, faculty, and staff will host a Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony complete with St. Nick at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 in the second floor lobby area of the Mills E. Godwin Student Union Building. The holiday tree lighting ceremony is a new tradition for the Spartans.

In addition to the tree lighting, “Santa Claus” will arrive via fire truck at approximately 6:30 p.m. courtesy of the Norfolk City Fire Department for a holiday classic reading with community children.

During the holiday celebration, NSU officials will present gifts of brand new shoes to a representative of CANDII (Children’s AIDS Network Designed for Interfaith Involvement) House for children being served by the organization. CANDII House provides comprehensive services to individuals and families infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. They provide services such as medical care, medication, utility payment assistance, transportation, food assistance and much more.
