Norfolk State University Stages Holiday Tree Lighting
Ceremony
Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University students, alumni,
faculty, and staff will host a Holiday Tree Lighting
ceremony complete with St. Nick at 6 p.m. Wednesday,
November 30 in the second floor lobby area of the Mills
E. Godwin Student Union Building. The holiday tree
lighting ceremony is a new tradition for the Spartans.
In
addition to the tree lighting, “Santa Claus” will arrive
via fire truck at approximately 6:30 p.m. courtesy of
the Norfolk City Fire Department for a holiday classic
reading with community children.
During the holiday celebration, NSU officials will
present gifts of brand new shoes to a representative of
CANDII (Children’s AIDS Network Designed for Interfaith
Involvement) House for children being served by the
organization. CANDII House provides comprehensive
services to individuals and families infected and/or
affected by HIV/AIDS. They provide services such as
medical care, medication, utility payment assistance,
transportation, food assistance and much more.
