Norfolk State University’s WNSB 91.1
Adds Democracy Now! to its Programming Schedule
Norfolk, Va.— Democracy Now!, a national independent
news program airing on more than 350 stations across the
country, will join the programming schedule at WNSB 91.1
FM, Norfolk State University’s radio station. Democracy
Now! begins airing Monday through Friday on WNSB
starting November 21, at 10 a.m.
WNSB
91.1 FM is the 2002 recipient of Virginia’s Top College
Radio Station award and is a unit of Academic Affairs
with a mission to educate and train students in radio
production. WNSB’s urban format features jazz, R&B,
hip-hop, gospel, reggae, news and public affairs
programming that reflects the ethnic and cultural
diversity of its audience.
Democracy Now! is hosted by award-winning journalists
Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. Goodman started her
career in radio in 1985 and assisted in the launch of
Democracy Now!, which had its beginnings as a daily
election show. Gonzalez has written a column for the New
York Daily News since 1988 and has authored several
books. Democracy Now! is produced at the Downtown
Community Media Center in New York City’s Chinatown.
Reviews of the public broadcast program note that
Democracy Now! is informative, refreshingly candid, and
innovative.
